I am so grateful that my mom shared the gospel with me as a child, and that Christ showed me His remarkable grace early in my life. Although I strayed from Him at times during high school and college, the Lord has been so faithful to keep drawing me to Himself over the years through His Spirit and through His Word.
I grew up in Texas but moved to the Midwest to pursue my M.B.A. at the University of Chicago where I graduated in 1995. My wife Michelle and I thought we would move back to Texas some day, but God had a different plan for us in Wisconsin. We have since been blessed to raise our family in Cedarburg over the past 25+ years, and to be a part of Alliance Bible Church that entire time. We have three adult children and two grandchildren.
I retired from my career in investments at the end of 2024 to pursue ministry full-time, and am now an ACBC-certified Biblical counselor. I’ve always enjoyed discipling and mentoring people 1-on-1 and getting into the real struggles of life – all the while relishing how God works to change us amidst our suffering. Such transformation reveals His glory and points us to the true ‘buried treasure’ of life (Matthew 13:44).
My wonderful wife Michelle and I now live in the town of Cedarburg and appreciate the times we can kayak along the river, talk with friends around the bonfire, or travel to new places.

Dwayne Sommersell
I was born in the Caribbean Island of Trinidad and moved to Brooklyn, NY at the age of 4. I grew up in a Christian home where every Sunday morning I went to church. At a young age I prayed to receive Jesus, but I prayed that prayer many times because I wasn’t sure if it was enough. I was trusting in the prayer rather in Jesus. As I grew older, my desire to learn God’s word grew. I was given various preaching and teaching opportunities in the church and I wanted to grow in my understanding of the Bible. After talking to my pastor, I decided to go to Bible College. It was there that God truly humbled me. In my years prior, I was longing for acceptance and approval from people. I wanted the spotlight. I would elevate myself above others so that I could feel better about myself. Through my professors, the study of the Word and other good Christian books, I began to realize that God saved me not because I was a good and moral person (because I’m not), but because he wanted to for his own glory. Jesus died to save me from my sin so that I can live for him.
In 2015, while I was still in Bible college, I was given an opportunity to do an internship at a church in Chicago. It was that summer that I met my beautiful wife Mariah and we got married in August of 2016. Through God’s providence and kindness I was offered a position to serve on staff at the same church as a pastoral resident in 2017 where my understanding of the local church really grew. God has blessed Mariah and I with five children. I am grateful that God granted me the position at ABC to serve the students and I am excited to see Christ being formed in them.
My family and I are thankful that we can be a part of ABC and enjoy living in Cedarburg. In our free time we love to laugh, watch movies and explore the neighborhood!

Jon Vallier
In 2020, God planted a dream in Jon’s heart of launching Lakeside Alliance Church. Since then, it has been an exciting journey seeing countless people come together to form this new movement in the Northern Ozaukee area. Jon sees serving as Lakeside’s Lead Pastor a humbling privilege with the joyful opportunity to share his passion for Christ and the Scriptures with others.
Jon is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, the author of Essential Conversations (a group experience for those who are starting or returning to a relationship with Christ), and was ordained in 2019 with the Christian & Missionary Alliance. Prior to serving with Lakeside, the Valliers served at Alliance Bible Church, Grace Fellowship (now Genesis Church), and Garland Avenue Alliance Church. With over a decade of ministry experience Jon is excited to see what God will do next through the ministry of Lakeside!
