Yes, I’m keenly aware that Christian history is littered with failed predictions of the end of the world. But the fact still remains: Jesus is coming back.
“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God…” – 1 Thessalonians 4:16
And when he comes, what will he do?
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.’” – Matthew 25:31-34
“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.’” – Matthew 25:41
When Jesus comes, he comes as a righteous judge who will issue his decisive, irreversible, incontestable verdict.
Before this happens, however, Jesus said there will be precursors to his coming like: wars, famines, and earthquakes (Matthew 24:7). He called these precursors “birth pains” (Matthew 24:8). Just like a woman in labor, our world is in labor trying to give birth to the new world which Jesus will bring into being when we returns.
Jesus wants us to see birth pains, like Coronavirus, as signs or precursors of his return and we all need to be ready. “So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him” (Matthew 24:44).
Stay awake and be ready!
